Process Plant Contract Award
Jordan Manufacturing, has been awarded a contract to design and build a replacement KOH Core Element Leaching Plant in the Bristol area. The new plant will be designed to replace a similar existing system. The order follows a period where both their Client's and Jordan's engineers have worked together to ensure the new plant will provide enhancements and improvements over an existing system. The new plant will be installed in a new purpose built building and will provide a more efficient process with an improved working environment for its operators.
The plant is based on the “Lost Wax” process and is designed to remove intricate core elements following the casting process of components such as those employed in the aircraft industry. The core elements maintain various internal cavities during the casting of metal items. Once the castings have cooled the KOH plant removes the cores by dissolving them to expose the highly engineered internal cavities. The basic process has been in existence for thousands of years and was originally developed to manufacture jewellery. However, Jordan's client has further developed the process and its procedures to enable extremely complex and accurate components to be consistently manufactured.
